Pale straw gold, crystal clear

Nose & Aroma

Mild grain malt, subtle hop bitterness, a faint fruity yeast note and clean herbal character from the A-yeast

Palate & Taste

Light-bodied with clean malt, mild hop bitterness and a slightly fruity yeast note that makes Heineken immediately identifiable. More interesting than Kingfisher but not dramatically so. The carbonation is very good

Finish

Short to medium, clean and slightly dry. A pleasant bitterness at the end

History & Background

Gerard Adriaan Heineken founded the brewery in Amsterdam in 1873. The green bottle and red star became globally recognised packaging. Heineken entered India through United Breweries and is now brewed locally at UB facilities. The A-yeast, Heineken's proprietary culture developed in the 19th century, is the main thing that separates the Heineken taste from other Indian-brewed premium lagers. In India it sits clearly above Kingfisher on price but below craft beers.
