History & Background

Ultra sits at the top of Clase Azul's core range — an extra-aged, limited-edition expression aimed primarily at collectors and gifting occasions rather than everyday drinking. Clase Azul was founded in 1997 by Arturo Lomelí in Guadalajara around the idea of hand-painted ceramic decanters as much as the liquid inside them; each Ultra decanter continues that tradition at an even more elaborate level. The company remains independent and 100% Mexican-owned.

Production & Maturation

Production Method

100% blue Weber agave from the Jalisco highlands, cooked, crushed, fermented and double-distilled in copper pot stills, extra-aged before bottling in an elaborate hand-painted decanter — production runs are smaller than Plata/Reposado/Añejo.

Aging & Maturation

Extra-aged beyond the Añejo expression, though exact published aging periods for Ultra are thin and vary by source — treat any specific duration as directional only and verify against Clase Azul's current official materials before publishing a hard number.
