History & Background

Reposado is Clase Azul's flagship and most recognisable expression — the white-and-blue hand-painted decanter most people picture when they hear the brand name. Founded in 1997 by Arturo Lomelí in Guadalajara, Clase Azul built its identity around Mexican artisanship rather than the rugged, macho branding common in tequila at the time. The company has stayed independent and 100% Mexican-owned throughout its growth into one of the most recognised luxury tequila houses in the world.

Production & Maturation

Production Method

100% blue Weber agave from the Jalisco highlands, traditionally cooked, crushed and fermented, then double-distilled in copper pot stills before resting in oak. Decanters are hand-painted by Jalisco artisans, roughly two weeks of work per bottle.

Aging & Maturation

Rested in oak barrels for several months (short of a full year) — enough to add vanilla, caramel and light oak spice while keeping the agave character forward. Confirm the exact published aging period against Clase Azul's current official spec sheet before stating a precise number on the page.
