History & Background

Indri is distilled at Piccadilly Distilleries in Haryana and was launched internationally in 2021. It became one of the fastest growing Indian single malts almost immediately, winning several international awards in its first two years. The Trini expression is triple cask matured in ex-bourbon American oak, PX sherry and STR casks. STR stands for Shave, Toast and Re-char — a process of reviving used wine casks by shaving the inner surface and re-toasting them. The combination of these three cask types gives Indri Trini unusual complexity for a young Indian malt.

Production & Maturation
Production Method
Made from six-row barley grown in the Haryana region. Pot still distillation using traditional copper pot stills. Non-chill filtered at 46%.
Aging & Maturation
Triple cask maturation in ex-bourbon American oak, PX sherry casks and STR wine casks. The warm Haryana climate accelerates maturation beyond what Scotland produces.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Indri Trini so popular in India right now?
Indri Trini became one of the fastest growing Indian single malts almost immediately after its international launch in 2021. Three factors drove this. First, the quality is genuinely exceptional — triple cask maturation in ex-bourbon, PX sherry and STR wine casks creates remarkable complexity at the price. Second, the price of Rs 3800 in Delhi is lower than many less impressive imported Scotch blends. Third, it won multiple major international awards in its first two years, generating the kind of credibility that takes most distilleries decades to build. For Indian drinkers proud of domestic craft, Indri Trini is a genuinely compelling reason to choose Indian single malt over Scotch.
What is triple cask maturation in Indri Trini?
Indri Trini is aged in three different types of casks — ex-bourbon American oak, PX sherry casks and STR wine casks. Ex-bourbon casks contribute vanilla and caramel. PX sherry casks add rich dark fruit, raisin and a deep sweetness. STR stands for Shave, Toast and Re-char — a process of reviving used wine casks by shaving the inner surface to expose fresh wood and then re-toasting it. STR casks add spice, dried fruit and a wine-like complexity. The combination of all three creates a whisky with unusual depth and multiple flavour layers for its age.
Indri Trini vs Rampur Select Casks — which is better?
Indri Trini and Rampur Select Casks are the two most talked about new-generation Indian single malts and choosing between them depends on your flavour preference. Indri Trini at Rs 3800 in Delhi has more richness, sherry sweetness and bold cask character from the triple maturation. Rampur Select Casks at Rs 4000 is smoother, more elegant and shows a gentle Himalayan character from its cooler climate maturation. Both are outstanding. Indri wins on complexity and value. Rampur wins on elegance and finish length. Serious Indian whisky drinkers should have both in their collection.
Is Indri Trini available across all Indian states?
Indri Trini is available in most major Indian states including Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Karnataka, Haryana, Rajasthan and several others. Distribution has expanded significantly since 2021 as demand has grown. Prices vary by state — Delhi stocks it at around Rs 3800 and Goa at around Rs 3200. The whisky is produced at Piccadilly Distilleries in Haryana and domestic distribution is a priority for the brand. If you cannot find it at your regular liquor store, larger premium retailers in metro cities are reliable stockists.
What awards has Indri Trini won?
Indri Trini has won multiple significant international awards since its launch including medals at the International Wine and Spirits Competition, the Spirits Business Awards and the World Whiskies Awards. Within two years of international launch it had accumulated more awards than most distilleries achieve in a decade. Indian whisky critics and international reviewers alike have given it scores that place it among the finest value single malts available globally. The awards have significantly raised the profile of Indian single malt whisky internationally and established Indri as a credible competitor to established Scottish distilleries.
